CONSULTATION

Where needed, I provide a dedicated consultation service geared to client's specific requirements. Historically these have ranged from what finishes and colours to use through to advice on period authenticity and detail.

For many projects, whether they be restoration or original design, clients often have a general idea of what they wish to achieve but are uncertain on the optimum route to achieve their objectives. By drawing upon over 50 years of experience, I suggest, explain and illustrate differing options and routes. This allows clients to finesse their own choices by availing themselves of my specialist information, suggestions and advice that I have accumulated over working on many varied projects. Every project I am involved with is unique and I approach them with no preconceptions as to my clients requirements.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior Design is an intensely personal matter. It is crucial therefore to be able to discuss and present differing approaches and ideas to address client’s needs. I have found over many projects that an iterative approach works best in defining what a client wishes to achieve. Style, tone, pattern, colour and effect are all important elements in interior design. Inevitably these elements take time to define and refine. I work with clients to nurture their design objectives and ensure the agreed brief reflects what they really want.

I have a specialist team of builders and crafts people that have worked with me for many years. The importance of this is that this team knows how to transform a brief into reality. Interior design implementation requires skill, care and a sympathetic approach. I place extreme importance on ensuring that clients sign off against agreed stages as their interior design evolves thus ensuring total client satisfaction.

RESTORATION

Restoration takes many shapes and sizes and can range from the repair of a particular artefact through to major material projects. I am particularly interested in applying modern techniques and materials to traditional ways of constructing and building things — whether they be items of furniture and pictures or large building surfaces.

My classical training often means I see solutions where others don’t. This combination of an 'old and new' approach is central to how I look at restoration projects. I have specialist knowledge of paints, materials, colours, textures and finishes and bring this knowledge to bear, as appropriate. This has allowed me to complete restorations that were otherwise un-restorable.
